City of Prince George

The construction of a District Energy System seemed like a no-brainer to the project developers at the City of Prince George. It would make use of a readily available resource to provide energy security for the downtown core, and provide environmental benefits in the process. Not so fast. The NIMBY (Not In My Back Yard) crowd had different ideas. They didn’t like the project. And they succeeded in getting it cancelled. That’s when the City called us. Through a series of strategic engagements with key stakeholders, and adjustments to the action plan, the project was brought back for unanimous approval of City Council – with the support of those who stopped the initial project in its tracks. The energy system is up and running today, providing clean, renewable heat and hot water to the city.
